Rights Alliance helps to get companies to speak out so that the wider public can understand the challenges associated with buying and selling counterfeit products. This is something that can be difficult to communicate as a single company, but together – in a network via RettighedsAlliancen – it is easier to get the message out, and thus help consumers to buy original products.

In the video above, you can hear why Fritz Hansen and Louis Poulsen value their membership of Rights Alliance and Maria Fredenslund, CEO of the Rights Alliance, talk about the work of the organization.
Why Originals?
Rights Alliance has produced the flyer “Why Originals?”, which informs and guides users to choose original designs. Highlighting the benefits of buying originals and the consequences of buying replicas, the flyer equips dealers and others to better answer relevant questions about the difference between originals and replicas.

In an international and digital market for design products, the protection of rights is essential for Danish design companies to protect their business. Digital developments are constantly generating new ways of enabling copyists to advertise, distribute and sell well-designed copies of Danish design all over the world. Therefore, it has never been more important to enforce the rights to your design products.
An investment in original design, like a piece of furniture, a lamp, or applied art, is about so much more than the economics. It is also a question of choosing ethics, security, sustainability, and tradition. In Rights Alliance, we work to protect the rights of Danish design companies and create better conditions for Danish design. We fight the illegal sale and marketing of design copies on behalf of our members, and through information and press initiatives we make consumers aware of the consequences of buying counterfeit products.
Rights Alliance efforts within the design area are multifaceted and consist, among other things, of
- Advising on enforcement strategy
- Monitoring and taking down illegal ads on counterfeit goods on websites, social media, marketplaces, etc.
- Investigating and reporting systematic infringements to the police
block websites dedicated to illegal sales - Engage in international enforcement efforts
- Preparing customs requests
- Developing user surveys on the extent and trends of the replica market
- Developing awareness-raising and press initiatives to draw public attention to the challenge of counterfeit products
A powerful network
RettighedsAlliancen is characterized by a strong network where cooperation against the illegal market is an essential element. We facilitate network meetings where we update on developments in the illegal market, exchange experiences and perspectives and update on enforcement and communication efforts.
Collaboration is key for the dissemination and development of enforcement options, which play an essential role in making it possible to block, dismantle and investigate the distribution of illegal design copies. Rights Alliance works closely with a series of partners to create better conditions and protection for design producers.
As part of the close cooperation with the design industry, RettighedsAlliancen has joined the board of the Danish Crafts & Design Association, which is the organisation behind ‘DesignNævnet’.
